I'm planning to do a speedrun of PH. I think I can do it in 7 hours. Does anyone have tips to get through it faster? Also, if you've done a speedrun of PH, post your time here.

Good luck with the Temple of the Ocean King. :mastahsword:

roll instead of walk, rolling is slightly faster.

Also my time is 8 hours and 52 minutes

the last run through the TotOK took me 2 minutes and 46 seconds :mastahsword:

I find that digging is usually an easy and quick way to get hearts and rupees, but then again, it might not always work.

Ugh, the first time I played through it, an hour of my total play time was waiting for those stupid phantoms to get out of the way.

Rolling with the touchscreen is annoying, so I'll have to practice.

              Let's hope I won't need too many.:)

You won't need too many rupees, just depends on how you play.

Such as shouting into the mic to lower the price of the cannon..

Don't stay in dungeons to collect heart containers and just head straight for the exit! :mastahsword:

                  (You'll save valuable nano-seconds!!!)

And end up dying constantly because of lack of heart containers, which will take up more time than just nano-seconds?

No thanks. He didn't say Three Heart Challenge.

That might be an interesting challenge, though. A three heart, low% speedrun sounds like fun. And if I could do it with any game, it would be PH. I'll see if I'm no longer sucky at Zelda games after my speedrun, and try it then.

7 hours is way too much. Someone did a test speedrun on youtube in 3:40. Its been a while since it was done and a few tricks have since been found so a sub-3:30 run should be possible. The big timesaver in a PH run is to collect the last 2 sea charts in the same trip to TotOK and do the dungeon order as Mutohs temple - Goron Temple - Ice temple. The hammer saves a lot of time in the latter two. And dont forget to get the slate.

Greenalink saves the game between videos. It actually saves him time for about 10-30 minutes in hole.

BTW: This guy is a machine.

when you get to the last temple. Dont read all of the gravestones. Just draw the design

every time you roll, take like... a 1 second break in between every roll, because you will eventually get all dizzy and that pissed me off the first time i played it. also Seven hours is a little long for a speed run.

If it's anything to make him proceed faster, which it does, then it has to be done. The only exception is if he's going for a 100%-completion run. Speed runs executed many things near perfection that very few or no damage taken is involved. In a LoZ speed run they took some damage on purpose because it makes the enemy push to give a boost in the running.

Does jumping with the ship make it any faster? I'm not certain, but I normally do that when I'm anxious to get somewhere.

I'm not sure if it helps, but whenever I'm swimming in a game, I constantly jump from impatience. It may actually slow you down.

While on the ship, firing your cannon backwards helps to speed it up i think. But maybe i mixed it up with some other game, idk.

As far as I know, it's impossible to fire the cannon backwards in PH.

                                            It is possible.

There were times when I just felt like firing cannon balls at seagulls. But if they were really close enough, the canon would fire backwards.

As for jumpimg, don't do it. If you jump constantly, it will in fact slow down the ship.
